EDGY cylinder head shipping update

7/28/2018

Comments

Good morning, I spoke with the foundry yesterday to get an update. The core prints (the openings in the side of the head where the rods suspend the core during casting) have been welded, and the heads are getting heat-treated this weekend. The heads will get shipped to Montana next week. Our machinist will be at Bonneville with us, so machining will begin on 8/18. I know a few of you are in a big hurry due to your machine shop's deadline, so send me an email ([email protected]) if it is imperative that you receive yours ASAP. Don't be selfish if you can wait an extra week or two.

By the way, we made another big improvement to the heads. When Earl (EDGY) had them cast, the foundry simply filled the core prints with weld. There was very little quality control or consistency in this process. At the last minute, we decided to have "plugs" cast of the same material and thickness of the head, which will be TIG welded in place. This will be a significant improvement over the original heads in both appearance (especially when polished) as well as eliminate any chance for coolant weepage due to porosity.

Thank you for your patience!
