EDGY cylinder head for your Dodge or Plymouth 23" L-head six cylinder engine. These high quality Gen II EDGY heads are cast in the USA from A356-T6 aluminum, and meticulously CNC machined in Montana.
Please check your application, but this should fit 1933 to 1959 Dodge and Plymouth 190, 201, 218, & 230 US built engines with 23" head. The casting does have the provision of the water bypass, but you will be responsible for drilling it (call for instructions), which is a very simple procedure.
Back by popular demand, these are the only NEW high compression cylinder head available for L-head Mopar sixes. These 74cc heads raise the compression ratio of your engine to approximately 9.0:1 and provide an instant, noticeable horsepower increase. The Gen II head, while based on the original EDGY head, has had numerous improvements; including increased coolant circulation, redesigned core pattern, improved metallurgy, higher quality control, CNC machining, and other features. Please note that if your engine is tired & worn it will also increase stress and blow-by!
Additional recommendations (but not necessary) are-
- Our "Boy Racer reground" camshaft
- Headers or split exhaust with 2.5" single exhaust pipe and low restriction muffler.
- Two carb intake or our EFI intake (coming soon)
- Pertronix ignition and/or MSD ignition.
- Addition of overdrive or numerically lower rear axle gearing.
We have achieved 150 RWHP drama-free (a 50+% increase) on our professionally built engines with the above modifications, on regular pump gas, while achieving 18-20 MPG.
